I am so sorry. This was a lovely tribute to an obviously wonderful, well-loved man.

Funny, my mom's hands are still what I miss most about her, as well. So much comfort in them.

Beautiful post, as always.

AM, your ability and talent to express so much love, appreciation and tenderness in a post is stunning. Beautiful words to describe a man with a beautiful heart for the Lord.

Is there anything as beautiful as the aged hands of the elderly. Just looking at them is like searching through volumes of memories. The elderly's hands are some of my favorite photographic subjects.

Well said. He was a man who loved to serve, and as Jeff said so well, he raised his daughters to be servants. That they certainly are.

His picture looks just like Kris's grandfather who we lost a few years ago to a combination of heart disease and cancer. He also sounds like the same kind of man. Kris often says that his grandfather was his model for what it was to be a good man. He died at 85, and while we miss him, it was hard not to see his funeral as the celebration of a life well lived. His wife of over 60 years followed him within a year later. They were just never meant to be apart.

"He lived by his faith and he died by his faith. In that there can be no tragedy." How true. Beautiful tribute.

Sounds like while he leaves a void here, he was expected "there."

We had a friend like that. He & his dear wife changed our lives.

With a prayer of comfort to you and all (I'm betting there's many) who loved him.

A life such as his is a gift to many, and in that there is no tragedy either.
