The Tradition Continues
June 16, 2007 | Papa Ed, Sometimes Sweet
On our recent visit to Illinois, Sean got a lesson from Papa Ed in the fine art of goofing off. Of course, he’ll never be as skilled at it as I am, but I have studied under the master for 47 years. And it has served me well.
Happy Father’s Day Daddy. Thanks for holding the nail while I learned to hammer.

June 16th, 2007 at 3:11 pmGrandparenting allows a bit of a “do-over”, no? Everything you forgot to do (or did too much of) or learned to late with your own kids you can apply to the next generation. You get to enjoy every moment with a kid without the panic/anxiety/fear that you’re also responsible for all the things parents have to shoulder. In bakery parlance it’s the corner slice of the cake with extra icing. Any grandparent who doesn’t take full advantage of the opportunity to be that person in the life of a grandchild has learned nothing. Your Sean (and his grandfather)are lucky to have each other.

Your words are wonderful, as always. But the picture pretty much says it all by itself.
