This is a picture of Cousin Tim, the world’s oldest four-year-old. The fact that he qualifies for AARP membership does not stop him from enjoying a homemade Slip N’ Slide. I really like that about him — that and the fact that he’s the original mangy varmint thug.

Personally, I think that the homemade kind of Slip-n-Slide is best. The area for sliding isn’t so narrow and the material doesn’t rip on impact. Dishwashing liquid and a couple (or three) of plastic paint tarps in you’re in business. Don’t forget to inspect the yard for errant rocks, because…ow!

I tried that about five years ago with my nieces and nephew- and I could barely walk for the rest of the week! Way to go Cousin Tim- you are in much better shape than I am!

My brother-in-law calls his father an “oud zak”, which is Dutch for “old bag”. It warms the cockles of my heart, I tell you.
