  • A Woman Inspired – UPDATE

    March 25, 2009

    Scroll to the bottom of the post to see the  list of winners.

    * * * * *

    Some ladies I know are getting together and putting on a web conference called “A Woman Inspired”, sort of like a retreat except without the travel or the  hugging.  I find that incredibly appealing. I am attending and I hope you will too.  After the long winter my attitude has gotten a little sucky and I need my spiritual split ends trimmed.

    Some of the speakers whom I know are Lysa Terkeurst who plays tennis with Oprah, Allison Worthington who owns the entire internet and a small foreign auto parts distributorship and Darlene Schacht who not only speaks fluent Greek, but also dreamed up and launched  Christian Women Online. We get together a couple of times a year and play some golf on Kiawah, the four of us. It’s fun…

    Yeah, only a wee bit of that’s true and I’ll leave it up to you to figure it out.   Maybe they’ll have a session on lying creative story telling.

    The other gals I don’t know – Yet! – but am hoping to insinuate myself into their lives somehow so I can make up stories about how we hang out.  You can find the whole slate of speakers, topics and details here.  Lots o’ good stuff.

    The conference runs April 6-9 with four speakers each day covering a range of topics from forgiveness to finance (or wherein the two may need to intersect if you’ve ever uttered this line:   Honey! It was on SALE! I saved you money by buying this. You should THANK me!)

    Tickets are $12.95 through April 1st which enables you to attend and/or download mp3’s of all the sessions.  And!  I hear there will be goody bags (valued at over $100 – NOT makin’ that part up!) and free downloads and who knows what other good stuff they will come up with between now and then.

    I have five tickets to give away, so if you would like the chance to win one and join me at the conference, leave a comment and I’ll draw five names at some point in the day on Friday.

    * * * *

    Winners!

    And here are the lovely winners chosen by my personal friend and assistant Mr. Random.Org who treats everyone with equal kindness:

    #24 – Suzanne who writes Southern Living At Its Best

    #29 – Iota who writes Not Wrong, Just Different

    #30 – edj who writes Planet Nomad

    #45 – Heather Crawley

    #52 – Dana who writes Are We There Yet?

    If you did not win, please consider scraping together $12.95 and treating yourself to a little inexpensive on-line spiritual spa.  Just for the record, I bought myself a ticket and one for my friend Jennifer and when I emailed “The Amie’s” with a question, they offered me five tickets to give away. I say that so you’ll know that I think so much of these ladies and what they are trying to do that I forked over my own money.

    Anyway, congrats to the winners. “See” you there!

      You have no idea how funny it is that you picked me playing tennis with Oprah for your (lie) creative liberties with me.

      Oh child.

      The one and only time of my life I played tennis, would have won me a lot of money on America’s Funniest Home Videos.

      If only I’d had a camera. sigh.

      Loved hanging out with you last weekend!

      Okay. . .so if you’ve read my blog in the past couple of days you know that I have: lost a Mastercard (it’s not next to the seat in my car either), lost a Discover card, gone to the “female” dr. for an unpleasant event, figured out on my way there that I had no cash, no check, and no Mastercard OR Discover card with which to pay my bill or get out of the parking garage, forgot my cell phone at home, forgot my keys at home (difficult I know), and today I found out that the job I wanted no longer exists (though I am really grateful for the one I currently have), a substitute AND a room full of 8th graders laughed (serious “You-are-such-an-idiot” laughter) at me for trying to get them to behave (after that I left the true idiot sub in there to fend for himself, and his days are numbered as three of us ratted him out without even consulting each other), AND I walked boldy into the restroom at McDonald’s only to greeted by a urinal cake. . .and you don’t find THOSE in the WOMEN’S restroom.

      So. I’m not so sure how the whole internet/web/tour thing works, but I need a whole lotta sumpin’ so sign me up, sister.
